Project Two 50 will Not Be Racing Budd’s Creek
By · CommentsDo to unfortunate circumstances, Project Two 50 was not accepted for the Budd’s Creek National.
Here’s the scoop…
Mike signed up to get his Pro License in early February this year. Unfortunately, he received e-mail confirmation of his license just 3 weeks ago. According to the rules you need your credentials before signing up.
Mike’s girlfriend Jackie finally figured out a way to sign him up without the credentials, but it was just before the deadline last week. When the entry list was published we were not on it.
Since this happened I have read the rules pertaining to race entry, they take privateers on a first come first served basis. I guess we just got our entry in too late. We did attempt to find out if there was a cancellation so we could slip in, but it didn’t work out.
What’s the deal? I thought we were in a recession or something, over 90 Pros signed up for the 450 Pro Class at Budd’s Creek!
One of our challenges is that we did a good job promoting Project Two 50, but have been building the bike and team on a very limited budget. Not always a good combination!
I’m so sorry about these set-backs. Everyone has been really supportive of our project. For that we are eternally grateful, much more than you know.
Currently our entries are pending for Red Bud, Unadila, Southwick and Steel City. I will update as soon as I have confirmation.
Thank you for your continued support.
Holeshot Video
By · CommentsOne the biggest supporters and sponsors of Project Two 50 is our friend Craig LeClaire from Micro Blue Racing located in Rockford IL. His ideas, suggestions and input have taken our simple idea and turned it upside down.
The original idea for Project Two 50 was to compete using a 250 two stroke in the AMA Pro National Motocross class against the 450 four-strokes. In itself an admirable goal.
Once Craig became involved the entire project changed focus. It has grown into a challenge to our entire team, a challenge to build the cleanest two-stroke, emissions wise, in the world.
As you could imagine, this is a very tall order, which involves many ingredients to achieve. The repercussions of achieving this goal are far reaching and in some ways life altering.
The thing is we actually did it!
Over the Memorial Day weekend Spagnoli Excavating dropped off some earth moving equipment for track maintenance. Check out one of the operators on the machines… Project Two 50’s very own Racer Mike Leavitt. It seems that Mike has quite a bit of experience in building and maintaining tracks.
A great big Thank You to Spagnoli Excavating.
Revanche 2 Strokes sponsors Project Two 50
By · CommentsOur good friends at Revanche 2 Strokes not only have supported us with encouragement and helpful ideas, but they have stepped it up big time. Revanche 2 Strokes is now a Project Two 50 Sponsor.
Revanche makes shirts for the two-stroke fan. Some fun ones and some in your face shirts. They are of fantastic quality and never cease to get people talking and smiling.
Make sure you buy some of these shirts to support the two-stroke cause. Every impression of two-strokes helps people to see that there are many of us two stroke lovers out there.
Last week Lauren and his crew sent us a “care” package that included a great selection of shirts. Since we were all in one place, we took a couple of photos with some of our favorites.
Please stop by the Revanche site to get some two-stroke swag! http://www.revanche2strokes.com
Project Two 50 Schedule Change
By · CommentsDue to unforeseen circumstances Project Two 50 will be unable to compete at the first scheduled event in Texas on June 5th.
Due to our very late start, we just can not get the bike completed and in race shape for Texas. Our schedule included time for us to test in Texas a week before the race. Due to all the testing we have ahead of us this coming week, we require at least another week or more to be ready.
I know that this will be a disappointment to some. For this I apologize. I take full responsibility for us not being ready on time.
In a strange turn of events, I personally (John) will still be attending the race at Freestone. If you have already made plans to attend this event, please contact me and we’ll make plans to meet up.
The event that our machine will makes it’s debut is Mount Morris, PA on June 12th.
Again I am very sorry to have to make this change.
Thank you for understanding.
Kayaba A Kit Suspension
By · CommentsAt the beginning of last week Mike picked up the Kayaba A Kit suspension from Jay at Get Real Racing in New Jersey. Just removing the components from the box was a near religious experience.
The A kit is produced in very low numbers. The attention to detail is evident when you look at and handle these pieces.
Photos do not do them any justice.Even with that said, here are a couple of photos of the Kayaba A kit.
During initial testing the improvement in absorbing the rough choppy bumps was greatly improved. Landings from severe altitudes is more controlled.
First impressions after testing the machine? The A kit works better than any other suspension Mike has tested….
We’ll be doing more testing over the next few weeks and report back soon.
